Harry Lehotsky's life is marked by many achievements with one common thread - the people that he loved and served.  Where ever he went, he brought along his commitment to help people find a path to new life, he brought abandoned buildings to life, and ignited hope in the heart of Winnipeg's inner city.

Harry spearheaded many campaigns during the 80's and 90's to rid the West End of pawn shops, massage parlours, prostitution and drug-houses and during those years he saw the need for housing for people living on low incomes. In 1998 he founded Lazarus Housing and Nehemiah Housing which has renovated and continues to manage over 100 units of transitional housing and emergency shelter housing. Many beautiful and functional homes have been provided for families on lower income salaries and this has marked a continuing trend as many homes in the West End continue to undergo renovation.

In 2005, one year before his untimely death, Harry founded the Ellice Cafe & Theatre, which is a non-profit community restaurant and theatre complex. His vision was to see the breakdown of barriers between races, status and income levels in people and to see them live together in community with one another in a beautiful setting. Once again, he proved that "nothing is impossible."
